Most teams run on a clipboard, a group chat and a shared drive. The clipboard holds the checks, the chat holds everything else, and the drive holds the policies. It works, mostly, until a sheet goes missing or a message scrolls away. Able2 puts all three in one app on everyone’s phone.
Checks done properly, on the spot
“The checklist lives on a clipboard in the van, and the boxes get ticked at the end of the day”
Paper checklists travel badly. The sheet gets coffee on it, gets filled in from memory in the car park, and sits in a tray until someone types it up. The ones that never come back are only noticed when someone asks for them.
Turn the checklist into a form on their phone. Use tick boxes, multiple choice, dates, numbers, a slider and notes, and make questions required so it can’t be sent half done. Any question can ask for a photo, or insist on one. Each form is saved against the right site or piece of equipment, with who filled it in and when. Contractors and visitors can fill one in from a link or a QR code on a poster, without the app. Try our site safety checklist.

This is live. Try it. It behaves exactly like this on your own site.
Show me the invoiceHear about problems the same day
“I find out something’s broken when someone finally hands in the sheet”
The whole point of a check is to catch something early. A sheet that flags a frayed lead on Monday and reaches the office on Friday has done the paperwork and missed the moment.
A finished form can be emailed straight away to the people who need it, like the site manager or the office. Checks can be scored as a pass or a fail, and a failed or critical answer sends its own email, so the problem reaches someone the same morning.
A check that reaches the office a week later is a record, not a warning.
Everyone hears it the first time
“The important message is somewhere in the group chat, under forty messages about lunch”
Group chats are great for “running ten minutes late” and not so great for “the gate code changes on Monday”. The notice scrolls away, the new starter joined after it was sent, and a couple of people muted the chat months ago.
Post news in its own feed, separate from the chatter, and send a notification to everyone’s phone now or at a time you choose. Each site or team can have its own private group for day-to-day talk, and people can message each other directly.
One copy of everything, always current
“There are three versions of the procedure, and people follow whichever one they find first”
One copy is on the shared drive, one is printed in the van from two years ago, and one is in somebody’s inbox. Nobody is being careless; there is just no single place with the latest version.
Keep policies, procedures, price sheets and how-tos in the app’s library, on everyone’s phone. When something changes, replace the file and everyone reads the new one. New starters can work through a short training course in the app and get a certificate at the end.

Records you can find in a minute
“An insurer asked for last month’s checks, and I spent a day looking for them”
When someone asks for proof, whether it’s an insurer, an inspector or a client, the answer is a box of paper and a few folders, some of it missing and none of it searchable.
Every submitted form is kept with the date, the person and the site or equipment it was about. You can ask for a check to be done on location, filter the records by site, equipment, date or result, and export them to a spreadsheet. Each vehicle or piece of equipment has its own record, with its documents and their expiry dates and the history of every check done on it.
When we are not the right answer
Worth saying plainly, because signing up for the wrong reason helps nobody and we would rather you knew now.
- You need rostering, timesheets or payroll. Able2 doesn’t do staff scheduling, clock-on or pay runs today. If the roster is your biggest headache, a dedicated rostering tool is the answer.
- You need signatures or read-and-sign records. Forms don’t capture a drawn signature, and the library doesn’t track who has acknowledged a policy.
- You need a full safety management system. Incident investigations, corrective action registers and regulator reporting belong in dedicated safety software. We help you capture and keep the checks.
- You’re three people in one room. A checklist on the wall and a group chat are genuinely fine. Come back when there are more sites, vans or people than you can keep track of.
If any of those describe you, we would rather point you somewhere better. If none of them do, the free plan will tell you the rest without costing you anything.
